President
Robert F. “Bob” Price is a clinical psychologist with strong research and personal interests in sleep and dreaming, lucid dreaming, meditation, altered states of consciousness, human bioenergies, and the nature of reality. He believes that personal and scientific exploration of these states can greatly expand our understanding of the potential of the human mind.
While a graduate student at the University of Texas in Austin, Dr. Price managed the sleep laboratory. During that time, he conducted sleep lab studies of REM sleep auditory biofeedback, the narrative structure of dreams, lucid dreaming, eye movement signaling techniques, and frequent nightmare experience. Price has published several articles on these subjects, including a chapter on lucid dream induction, and has presented his research at scientific conferences. This intensive study of lucid dreaming triggered a number of extremely vivid lucid dreams that had a profound impact on Price’s view of human consciousness, dreaming, and OBE.
After receiving his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Texas in 1992, Price completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Austin State Hospital, where he went on to work with the severely mentally ill for 25 years, serving for five years as director of psychology.
Since retiring from state service in 2010, Price has devoted more of his energies to INACS, where he served as director of research from INACS founding in 1990 through February 2015, and is currently serving as president. He is committed to advancing both the research and educational missions of INACS.
