Description:
The Austin-based research group INACS is doing a cohort (a group of people who have something in common) pilot study to investigate psychometric variables possibly common to both Jungian Typology (psychological types) and handwriting analysis (Graphoanalysis, Graphology).
Our presentation/discussion will include a rationale and protocol for the presently-completed data-collection phase of the study, and methodological considerations in the design and analytical stage of the project.
Three well-known personality-assessment test instruments, based on the Jungian Analytic Psychology theoretical framework–are the Gray-Wheelwright Jungian Type Survey, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and the Singer-Loomis Inventory of Personality (SLIP). In particular, the MBTI four-letter type code for each of the study’s 52 participants is well established beyond simply administering the test.
A major challenge in this project is the problem of determining–with some theoretical certainty–what particular derived personality traits from the handwriting analysis discipline sufficiently correspond to the eight mental functions and psychometric variables forming the basis of Jungian Analytic Psychology and the related personality theory.
Once such correlations are reliably determined, a main research objective is to implement study-design features, that will overcome protocol and methodological weaknesses suspected in certain earlier such investigations.
The meeting will consist of a 30 to 45 minutes synopsis of the subject matter, with the remainder discussion and Q & A. This will be a great opportunity to learn about handwriting analysis and Myers/Briggs personality typology.
