Since prehistory, the dead have been communicating with us and have given us abundant signs of their survival that fall into predictable categories. Some of these signs are extraordinary, involving materialization of objects and people and other manipulations of our reality that are impossible for us while we are still in bodies. Unlike near-death experiences and the death process itself, afterlife communications and signs delivered by the dead have been little studied. But they turn out to be of help in our attempts to better understand not only death, but also the design and functioning of extra-material reality and the capacities of normal human consciousness, both before and after material death.
