Kerri Welch: The Texture of Time
THE TEXTURE OF TIME: Intersections of Consciousness and Cosmology Presented by Kerri Welch, PhD Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 6:30–9:00 p.m. Austin Center for Spiritual Living (map) $5 non-member donation appreciated Join us at www.inacs.org/membership! From the cycling cosmos overhead to the ebb and flow of churning creeks, to sleeps, blinks, breaths, heartbeats, and fleeting thoughts, we exist amidst a vast range of timescales. Our bodies burn at a controlled 98 degrees Fahrenheit, an organized flow of energy, standing still in a moving stream. Here, at the intersection between self and world, we create time, with all its loops and twists, hurries and sighs, ploddings and alacrities, magic and misery. This lecture will wind a path through the realms of philosophy, modern physics, and neurochemistry, exploring what science can tell us about how time emerges through a consciousness in, and of, the cosmos. Kerri Welch, PhD Dr. Welch earned her PhD in Philosophy and Religion concentrating in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness from California Institute of Integral Studies, where she currently teaches courses on sacred geometry, modern physics, and the science of temporal perception. She also teaches philosophy for business doctoral students
